DescriptionAgricultural Extension activities are the media through which information on agriculture developments is passed on to farmers. Thus the emphasis of the scheme will be on creating and restructuring infrastructure, input delivery system, extension and research to meet the requirement of small farmers who constitute majority of the farming community in the State. This year, it is proposed to revamp the present extension system so as to face new challenges and to implement the following programmes for strengthening Agricultural Extension: (1) Initiation of a new field visit oriented extension system in the State with appropriate linkage with research institutions and Krishi Vigyan Kendras; (2) Training to field level functionaries of Agriculture Department in modern technologies and rural management to act as effective agents of transfer of technology and catalysts for rural transformation; (3) To develop Sameti to support the extension activities of the Agriculture Department; (4)To establish agro service centers to support Krishi Bhavans in Transfer of Technologies for the enhancement of productivity of crops and livelihood support of the farmers; & (5) Implementation of television based programmes and development of a portal will be the major components of the programme.The total allocation for the project is Rs.300.00 lakh
