DescriptionSoil and water conservation measures have brought about perceptible improvements to productivity of crops leading to increases in overall production. Considering the importance of soil and water conservation for bringing about improvements in production, productivity and for maintaining sustainability of agriculture. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) undertook the task of providing financial assistance for soil and water conservation projects under Rural Infrastructure Development (RIDF).The outlay of the scheme (Rs. 1300.00 lakh) will be used for completing ongoing NABARD assisted projects implemented by soil conservation unit and for taking up new projects approved under RIDF. The projects would be broadly soil conservation schemes on watershed basis, proposed to cover an area of 12500 ha. This is the first scheme implemented by the soil conservation unit.
