Central Reserve Police Force

The role of Central Reserve Police (External website that opens in a new window) (CRPF) Force being multifaceted, the Force is being employed for variety of tasks varying from providing aid to the State Administration in maintenance of Law and Order, Static guard duties to protect vulnerable areas and very important persons, to actively fighting insurgents and anti-social elements in different parts of the country.

Broad gamut of duties performed by the CRPF is given below:

  • Crowd control
  • Riot control
  • Counter Militancy / Insurgency operations
  • Dealing with Left Wing Extremism
  • Overall co-ordination of large scale security arrangement especially with regard to elections in disturbed areas
  • Protection of VIPs and vital installations
  • Checking environmental de-gradation and protection of local Flora and Fauna
  • Fighting aggression during War time
  • Participating in UN Peace Keeping Mission
  • Rescue and Relief operations at the time of Natural Calamities

The Direct Recruitment in CRPF in Non-Gazetted Executive ranks is made in the ranks of Sub-Inspector (GD), Constable (GD), Constable (Tech/Trade) and Followers in CRPF.

The training is imparted in the form of basic, promotional and instructional/specialised courses at various training institutions.

For the welfare of serving personnel the following measures are in built in the system:

  • Free family accommodation at any Group Centre
  • Outdoor and indoor games facilities at all the establishments
  • Adequate recreational facilities
  • Grievance redressal machinery in every office
  • Free School bus facility
  • Family welfare centres, where the family members are engaged in stitching, weaving, knitting etc, to augment family income
  • Montessori schools at 37 locations to prepare the children for admission to regular classes
  • Kendriya Vidyalaya at 21 places for taking care of education of the children

Financial assistance

  • For treatment of individuals and their family members.
  • In cases of natural calamities
  • Limited loan facilities.

Welfare of retired personnel

  • Resettlement/re-employment efforts through resettlement centers of GCs/Welfare Directorate and Welfare And Re-habilitation Board (MHA)
  • Financial assistance for treatment of individuals or spouses in rarest of rare cases
  • Reservation of 7 seats for MBBS course and one seat for BDS course every year for wards of CPMF personnel on merit
  • Reservation of seats in Polytechnics in Delhi
  • Medical facilities from CGHS/CPMF Hospitals or medical allowance of Rs.100/- per month
  • Scholarship amount Rs.18000/- p.a to Girls and Rs.15,000/- p.a to boys from 'Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme' to wards of the Ex-personnel of the CPFs to encourage technical and professional courses. Above scholarship is applicable upto the rank of SM/Insp
