DescriptionBamboo is an important natural, renewable livelihood resource of the State of Odisha, which grows in about one third of natural forests as pure and mixed strata and is cultivated on homestead and private lands. Productivity of bamboo in the State is quite low and there is a need to enhance it through scientific cultivation of suitable species and improved management of bamboo forests. For development the Bamboo sector, in the year 2008 to 2009 Government of Odisha has introduced a new scheme Orissa Bamboo Development Programme. Bamboo is an important forest resource in our society. The main function of this scheme is to Infrastructure Development and bamboo plantation in different division of State.
